Setting powders are not everybodys thing. Personally for me I choose to wear setting powders as I feel it sets my liquid foundations helping it to last longer, it leaves a matte finish to my skin and it gives me an added layer of coverage. Here are my top 5 setting powders which I use both in my personal and professional makeup kits.
Setting powders come in a range of different types from loose to compressed, translucent to skin coloured, and there is definitely a powder out there to suit everyone no matter what skintype you have.
1. MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus
This one is my personal favourite for occasion wear as it’s perfect for those mid-day touch-ups without it leaving your face powdery or cakey. This is a perfect powder and a top recommendation of mine for brides to have with them on their wedding day. It is a powder foundation with a a medium/full coverage, but I personally think it works better as a powder than a foundation. You can purchase in a variety of shades ranging from light to dark and pink/yellow tones.

2. Paese Cosmetics High Definition Powder
Paese cosmetics launched this High Definition Powder late last year and I was kindly gifted it by Foody’s Pharmacy and instantly fell in love, Paese cosmetics products all contain argan oil making them really great for keeping the skin hydrated. High Definition Powders are great for mattifying the skin but still leaving a natural effect on the skin.

3. Laura Mercier Translucent Powder
Definitely a payday type of a purchase but the Laura Mercier powder is definitely an investment and worth every penny. It’s extremely lightweight and it contains the lightest French cashmere talc which basically means it’s not drying on the skin. What I love about this powder is that it has almost an illuminating/brightening base to it so it leaves the skin looking natural and flawless. This powder is particularly good if you are conscious about powders setting into fine lines as it’s so finely milled it smooths over any lines and imperfections.

4. No7 Translucent Powder
A more budget friendly translucent powder and a firm fave of mine is the No.7 translucent powder, this powder does contain talc but its super finely milled and leaves a smooth flawless finish to the skin. This powder is particularly great for those who like to “bake” their makeup. Its translucent nature means that it won’t change the colour of your foundation but will completely mattify the skin. The loose powder range from No.7 does come with coloured powders also if that would be your preference.

5. Youngblood Pressed Mineral Rice Setting Powder
This product is a fantastic multi use setting powder. This mineral based powder can be used under loose powder foundation to prime the skin or can be used as a setting powder over liquid foundations to mattify the skin. I personally love this product for setting the under eye are, as it doesn’t contain talc so it keeps the under eye area hydrated, it’s also amazing for anyone that may have large open pores or oily skin and can be used for touch-ups throughout the day without it caking on the skin.
