I can't believe I am married one week today! Time has definitely flown and I am still on an absolute high from it all! We are here on our honeymoon in Thailand & there is currently a monsoon rain shower so I had a few minutes to write up a blog post!
Today's blog is based on your requests for the products I used for my wedding day makeup.
Even as a makeup artist I always thought that on my wedding day I wanted to be the same as every other bride and sit on the other side of the chair and have my makeup done professionally but the more I thought about it, which was long and hard with a lot of nerves and apprehension, which may seem very strange to you all but it definitely was a huge decision for me and now that it's done I am so glad that I did my own makeup for my wedding day. It was exactly how I imagined it to be and truth be told I really loved it, it was so me! I didn't trial my makeup at all, I didn't want to put that pressure on myself, I just nipped off to my room on the morning of the wedding before photographers & videographers arrived, I put on my music playlist and sang away to myself as I normally do. The morning and day of my wedding was absolutely amazing, I had no nerves whatsoever I was like a giddy little girl just dying to get into her dress and to see my fiancé at the alter as well as all my friends and family to get a glimpse of the glamour! I was smiling like a cheshire cat!
I had no idea how my makeup was going to turn out as I mentioned I hadn't trialled it, but if I'm honest no body knows your own face like you do! I have worked with alot of makeup products and I know what works for me personally, so this is my reason for the products I chose on my wedding day!
I had been prepping my skin for a long time before the wedding and this definitely is the key to flawless makeup, I have been using mainly Image Skincare products in the run up to my wedding day, and I also had a couple of facials in Bella Beauty Ballina to give my skin an extra boost. I didn't wear any makeup for two weeks before the wedding to give my skin a break and keep it cleansed and hydrated. I also was drinking at least 2 litres of water every day, which is key for hydration, also plenty of prosecco (that's hydrating too...right?)
I started my makeup by applying part of the base:
MAC Fix+ Spray - A quick spritz of this hydrating mist to wake up my skin and refresh! I spray this all over and the gorgeous scent of Cucumber and green tea really gives you a pep in your step!
MAC Illuminating Strobe Cream - I adore this product for many reasons, I love this product as it gives a beautiful luminosity, not only that but it hydrates and preps the skin for applying the foundation helping it to glide on to the skin a lot better.
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation - the foundation was a tricky decision for me as I have a few which I love and rate very highly, but I can always be assured that Studio Fix Fluid will hold the test of time and I knew it would give me the full coverage I wanted as well as lasting all day and photograph beautifully. I wore shade nc20 on my wedding day.
I moved on to my eye makeup at this part as I wanted to let the foundation settle and oxidise on my skin before I concealed and set with powder.
Blank Canvas Master Series Palette - I used this palette for my entire eyeshadow makeup, this has got to be one of my ultimate favourite palettes as warm Browns and pinks are my favourite shades to wear. I wore shades Lily, Goddess, Brazen, Strut, Carmin, Cocoa, Downtown & Corruption.
Inglot AMC Gel Liner - my favourite eyeliner of all time, I wore a winged style liner which took a lot of deep breaths and time but I got there in the end, I smoked this liner out with corruption from the master series palette. I applied the liner to my upper and lower waterline to tightlock the eye.
Eyelashes - my lashes were semi-permanent synthetic mink lashes which were done by my mum.
After the eye makeup was done I moved back to my base again.
MAC Prolongwear Concealer - this is my holy grail of concealers it works perfectly for me as it gives me full coverage under the eyes and keeps the under eye area moisturised and it doesn't crease. I applied the concealer to under my eyes, my nose, chin and forehead for extra coverage and blended it into my foundation.
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder - I used this under my eyes to set the concealer and to add extra brightness, be careful using this product as it can cause flashback so use sparingly. I went over the top of this again with Studio Fix Powder for added coverage which is optional.
MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation - I set my entire face with powder as my preference is for a matte finish to my skin And I add luminosity with highlighters. I ran the powder foundation down my neck and chest lightly also to make sure there was added coverage here too.
Smashbox Powdee Contour Palette - One of my favourite palettes for contouring and bronzing.
MAC Melba Blusher - I love the soft warm peachy glow that this blusher leaves on the skin.
TheBalm Mary Loumanizer Highlighter - Applied to the high points of my cheekbones, tip of my nose and Cupid's bow for a golden glow on the skin. I also applied to my collar bones for added sparkle.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in shade Taupe - This gel eyebriw product is perfect for shaping eyebrows and lasting all day and night.
MAC Soar Lip Liner & Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in shade 03 - This is my favourite lip combo and I knew it photographed really well and complimented the eye makeup also as it was a warm pink nude shade. It's super long lasting also which was great. I barely had to top up all day.
I finished off my setting all my makeup with MAC Fix+ Spray to add extra hydration and holding power, but I had buffed and blended that makeup into my skin so well that it wasnt going anywhere!
I brought with me on the day my lipstick, studio fix powder and my foundation brush for topups, which were needed after the church ceremony after all the kisses from our guests, the makeup was practically gone off one side of my cheek so bare this in mind because you're most likely going for your pictures after this.
Thank you so much for all your amazing beautiful comments on all my photos which I have shared with you all, you were all such a big part of my wedding day in the lead up to it that I was more than happy to share it all with you.
